— The AMA’s new president talks about his personal health journey and the policy challenges ahead

The American Medical Association (AMA) inaugurated Bobby Mukkamala, MD, an otolaryngologist from Flint, Michigan, as its 180th president on Tuesday. MedPage Today Washington Editor Joyce Frieden sat down with Mukkamala (pronounced “moo-KOM-a-luh”) in Chicago the day before his inauguration to discuss his current healthcare battle, his priorities as AMA president, and the challenges the association faces during a time of healthcare upheaval.
