By the end of the month, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is expected to release a proposed rule that would allow DACA recipients to apply for healthcare coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace or through their state Medicaid organization.

Recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program could soon become eligible for Medicaid and Affordable Care Act (ACA) coverage, President Joe Biden announced Thursday.

The DACA program was formed in 2012 by then President Barack Obama and then Vice President Biden. It provides some young undocumented immigrants (also known as Dreamers) protection from being deported and a work permit.
