GLP-1s are sweeping across America, on track to become one of the most widely used medications in American history. A recent study from KFF documents their meteoric rise: one in eight adults say they’ve taken a GLP-1 agonist, rising to one in five for adults ages 50-64.

These drugs are part of a class of prescription medications initially developed to treat Type 2 diabetes that mimic the naturally occurring hormones in our body that regulate blood sugar levels and appetite.
