I. CURRENT CONTEXT AND CONGRESSIONAL REQUEST I.A. Introduction Congressional Request This report responds to the Congressional request, as part of an appropriations bill signed into law in December 18, 2015 (P.L. 114-113), for the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS’) to provide an update on our current telehealth efforts. “The Committee urges the Department to increase collaboration and coordination across relevant Federal agencies on E-health and telemedicine to assess current efforts, needs, barriers, standards, goals, eliminate duplication and incompatibility, and ultimately improve health quality, effectiveness, and outcomes.
