Atrium Health and Wake Forest Baptist Health are planning to create a new medical school to train students in population health management and innovative care.

Atrium Health, Wake Forest Baptist Health, and Wake Forest University have announced a plan to launch a new medical school that will train physicians in population health management strategies to serve communities across the Carolinas.

The medical school is part of a planned merger between the organizations that will bring together nearly fifty hospitals, 1300 care locations, and 16 million patients under a single health care system.

The entities are also looking to invest in a Translational Research and Population Health Center in Winston-Salem to develop evidence-based best practices for patients.
