Recently, the Milbank Memorial Fund issued the annual “Health of US Primary Care 2025 Scorecard Report: The Cost of Neglect.” The report highlights critical issues in the US primary care system that demand attention from policymakers, healthcare professionals, and life science industry leaders and emphasizes shortcomings in United States primary care system.

The report argues that the “combination of worsening primary care access and sicker patients has created a vicious cycle,” which has led patients to use more expensive health services like emergency rooms. That gets the flywheel going, with raised health care costs and insurance premiums.
