In a recent JAMA commentary, former CMS Administrator Andy Slavitt, MBA, discussed the Triple Aim for health systems and explained current threats facing it.

According to Mr Slavitt, within the last decade, the Triple Aim is often used as a guide for American health policy. Mr Slavitt said that the Triple Aim is “defined as enhancing the experience of care for the patient, improving the health of populations, and reducing the per capita costs of health care.” Mr Slavitt explained that if the Triple Aim is implanted correctly, it is more than goals. He said, “it can be the basis for cultural change that can be put into real action.”
