The United States is facing a growing aging population. According to the US Census Bureau, the population aged 85 or more years is projected to more than double from 6.7 million in 2020 to 14.4 million by 2040 and to 18.6 million by 2050. Senior living communities are preparing to meet this demand, but revenue projections cannot solely be tied to an increasing population. As operators look to diversify their revenue streams, the rise in active aging adults has led senior living communities to focus more on wellness and lifestyle in addition to care.
