Amazon Pharmacy is targeting the massive population of seniors covered by Medicare health insurance who may be seeking even greater discounts and deals on their prescriptions.

Millions of seniors who are 65 and older tend to have drug coverage if they purchase privatized health insurance known as Medicare Advantage or a separate prescription-only plan under Medicare Part D. These plans tend to have broad prescription coverage, but also include co-payments, deductibles or related cost-sharing.

But Amazon Tuesday said its “Amazon Pharmacy RxPass” will still save seniors money now that it is available to Prime Members covered by Medicare, providing the online retail giant’s “Prime members on Medicare unlimited access to 60 eligible prescription medications for just $5 a month, plus...
