Alberta’s government is launching a $557.7 million ($800 million CAD) initiative aimed at modernizing cancer care across the Canadian province, as part of a long-term partnership with Siemens Healthineers and the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

The eight-year investment seeks to reduce wait times, improve early detection, and expand access to new technologies and training programs.

As part of the agreement, Siemens Healthineers will contribute an additional $122 million ($175 million CAD) to support the creation of two centers of excellence — one focused on oncology education and the other on AI in cancer care. A separate research and innovation fund will also be established under the Alberta Cancer Foundation to support recruitment and retention of top-tier talent.
