Enterprises everywhere are investing heavily in AI agents with the hope of gaining efficiency, reducing cycle times, and making better decisions. The promise is compelling. The reality inside most organizations is more complicated. Many early deployments stall because AI agents are introduced without human accountability and oversight required for them to operate safely and effectively.

Rajeev Butani, CEO of MediaMint, an AI-powered growth services company, says the breakdown starts much earlier in how companies frame the role of agents inside their workflows.

“AI agents don’t fail because they lack intelligence. Their promise often falls short because they are deployed without the human oversight and accountability required to make crucial decisions,” says Butani.
