Aetna, Blue Shield of California and Centene’s Health Net have launched a shared, value-based payment model for reimbursing primary care physicians in California.

The project, led by the California Quality Collaborative and the Integrated Healthcare Association, involves 11 providers across the state, covering about 17,000 patients. The single payment model went live on Jan. 1 and aims to address primary care reimbursement challenges, improve health equity, and boost health outcomes.
