The April 2024 special themed issue of Health Affairs on perinatal mental health and well-being brought together important research and much-needed focus on a topic that has complex determinants and far-reaching implications for family and child health. I appreciate that several of the papers in this issue used a reproductive justice framework, emphasizing the inequities faced by perinatal people with multiple marginalized identities, including poor people and people of color. However, the issue did not address the unique inequities and mental health needs of one group that is often marginalized around sexual and reproductive health: adolescents.
