Venture capital firm General Catalyst launched a Washington policy arm last year to much fanfare — or at least some fanfare in this newsletter — promising to push for new policies paving the way for an AI-enabled world.

Now we know its first target: It’s a healthcare AI idea.

The General Catalyst Institute’s first policy paper proposes a host of reforms to speed up the Food and Drug Administration’s approval process for using AI, including deregulation, test beds for technology, and opening up federal health data so developers can train their models on it.
