Low-income populations face many systemic barriers to accessing health care, several of which can be aided by the flexibility and accessibility digital health tools provide. A lack of access to paid sick leave among low-income populations means finding time to see a doctor is both difficult and requires sacrificing time that could otherwise be used to gain income. Even when time off from work is available, long wait times to see a provider and a lack of availability outside of regular business hours pose additional barriers to accessing health care. Reliance on public transit can also make travel to health care visits less predictable and more time intensive due to limited time options, delays, and cancellations. One study estimated that...
