Verily, Alphabet’s precision health company, is launching Verily Me, its first direct-to-consumer health app, following commitments to the White House to improve Americans’ access to their health data.

The free app consolidates patients’ medical records, offers meal tracking, and provides users with health recommendations from clinicians. It is partly the result of Verily’s interoperability pledge to the White House. While not among the initial 60 companies to join the initiative, Verily has since signed on.

Over the years, Verily has launched a variety of experiments, including a wearable microscope, but has failed to have a core competency. Last year, the company announced a platform for treating chronic disease called Lightpath, an evolution of its virtual diabetes treatment program...
