How can we know this is a golden age for senior living? Just listen to the silence.

If these times were tough, we’d be hearing about it. Loudly. Operators would be chirping about excessive oversight, unfair regulation, razor-thin margins, and how hard it is just to get by.

But lately? Crickets. And that speaks volumes.

Now, don’t misunderstand me. Senior living is not without its perennial challenges. Staffing remains a constant struggle. States occasionally pull a fast one on the regulatory front. Every so often, a new study warns the Commonweal about the evils of private equity and opaque ownership structures. The list goes on.
