Regular readers know that I think ambient clinical voice is one of the most exciting things to happen in health IT since the $36 billion in EHR stimulus money. The promise of automatic note generation is so beautiful and would solve so many of the pains associated with EHR software and more generally clinical documentation. Of course, there are plenty of skeptics that say that the technology won’t get there or will be too expensive. Time will tell on both of those, but when you look how quickly technology and AI are moving, my bet’s that ambient clinical voice will be a huge success.
