In a recent FOX news interview with Laura Ingraham, FDA commissioner Dr. Marty Makary stated, “Based on the overwhelming body of evidence, there was a causal relationship. Those are the exact words of the dean of the Harvard School of Public Health.”

These comments were in reference to the study exploring the use of Tylenol and its relationship to the development of autism cited by President Trump and the Department of Health of Human Services. The study was an observational study that found a positive association between Tylenol use in pregnancy with the subsequent development of Autism Spectrum Disorder in children among 27/46 studies evaluated.

The key word here is association, and not causation. In fact, in the actual study...
