Seven additional Medicare Advantage contracts picked up five-star ratings from CMS after the agency recalculated its ratings for 2024.

The agency published updated star ratings data July 2. CMS said it would recalculate 2024 star ratings for all health plans after judges sided with health plans who challenged the methodology CMS used to determine the ratings.

The agency said it would not lower the star rating for any plan in its recalculations.

Star ratings determine the bonus payments plans receive from CMS. Insurers must receive a rating of at least four stars to earn bonus payments.
