The ASC market continues to grow quickly as more procedures migrate to the outpatient setting. Here’s five recent moves from the five biggest players in the industry:
1. USPI (Dallas):
USPI, owned by healthcare giant Tenet, is the largest ASC chain in the U.S. USPI:
- Operates more than 535 ASCs across 38 states.
- Employs more than 11,000 physicians.
- Holds a 7.1% market share.
- Is led by president and CEO Brett Brodnax since 2018.
Recent big move: In the first quarter of 2024, Tenet acquired 45 ASCs and sold nine hospitals for net proceeds of $4 billion to invest in the ambulatory space.
2. SCA Health (Deerfield, Ill.):
