According to exit polls, healthcare was again a major voting issue in 2020. But those hoping to see president-elect Joe Biden pay off his healthcare promises are due for a painful shot of reality come inauguration day on January 20, 2021.

No matter which party ultimately wins control of the Senate, already the foundational planks holding up Biden’s the healthcare platform have been kicked out from beneath him. Without an overwhelming Congressional majority, each agenda item that makes up Bidencare—the president-elect’s “plan to protect and build on Obamacare”—will take a beating from both legislative extremes (the far left and the far right), as well as from lobbyists representing the hospital, health insurance and drug industries.
