The relationship between social media and mental health remains one of the most polarizing debates of our time. Looking at the same dataset, some studies link social media to anxiety, depression, and loneliness, while others highlight its potential to connect and uplift. What makes this so difficult to untangle is the classic correlation-versus-causation conundrum. Are we sadder because we scroll, or do we scroll because we’re sad?
