According to the results of a recent survey by Medscape, nearly 38% of physicians indicated that their workplace quality was declining, while only 16% said it was improving. Furthermore, nearly 82% of respondents reported that they believed “it is viable for an employer to maintain a culture that is consistently positive for physicians and also meet patient and marketplace demands”— highlighting the severe disconnect between employer and physician perspectives on cultivating a meaningful and healthy workplace.

Indeed, these perspectives are not new. Rates of physician burnout and dissatisfaction has been rapidly rising over the last few decades.
