Around half of states plan to increase Medicaid payment rates for outpatient behavioral health providers in fiscal year 2025, according to KFF’s annual survey of state Medicaid programs.

In fiscal year 2024, 34 states reported increasing payment rates for one or more types of outpatient behavioral health providers, including psychiatrists, psychologists and clinical social workers.

KFF surveyed Medicaid directors in all 50 states for the report, published Oct. 23.
