A total of 23 hospitals will receive Medicare-supported psychiatric residency slots.

CMS recently awarded a total of 200 new residency positions to 109 hospitals. The new positions take effect July 1, 2025. Around 70% of the Medicare-funded positions are in psychiatry and family medicine.

Since 2021, Congress has authorized funding for 1,200 Medicare-supported positions. CMS has awarded half of these positions to date.

Here are the 23 hospitals receiving funding for psychiatry residencies:

  2. Augusta (Ga.) University Medical Center
  3. Barnes-Jewish Hospital (St. Louis)
  4. Billings (Mont.) Clinic
  5. Carilion Medical Center (Roanoke, Va.)
  6. Cleveland Clinic
