The majority of clinicians who bill Medicare will not have to comply with the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act’s Merit-based Incentive Payment System this year, CMS said.

The agency mailed roughly 280,000 letters to physician practices indicating the MIPS participation status for each clinician associated with the practices’ Taxpayer Identification Number. CMS said 806,979 clinicians will be notified they do not have to participate in the MIPS track...
