On Tuesday, President Trump’s top health advisors said that they expect between 100,000 and 240,000 Americans to die from COVID-19, even if stringent social distancing guidelines remain in place. Without them, those projections spike to anywhere between 1.5 and 2.2 million fatalities. In Italy and Spain, the hardest hit countries up to this point, the death toll currently stands at 12,428 and 8,464 respectively. Poignantly, all three countries are among the world’s top investors in healthcare according to OECD data.
