Walmart has deployed a healthcare cloud from Microsoft and VMware on its Epic EHR across its more than 30 healthcare clinics.

The Horizon Cloud on Azure cloud platform is now being used at every new healthcare location that Walmart opens, currently numbering at least 32, according to a conversation between BreAnne Buehl, director of life sciences solutions for VMware, and David Rhew, MD, global chief medical officer at Microsoft, published Feb. 24.

Walmart’s expansion to more extensive healthcare clinics is “definitely going to disrupt the industry,” Dr. Rhew said.
