I am no expert on health care, just a life-long consumer (and beneficiary) like most of you. However, as more than 22 years of my overseas military and government service was in South Korea, I am in a position to make some direct comparisons, although perhaps overly simplistic.

In South Korea, which had one of the earliest and most effective national responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, the emphasis has long been on prevention. When my wife returns to visit family, she always undergoes extensive medical testing to ensure she stays abreast of any health issues.
