The Sequoia Project suggested ONC avoid disrupting and duplicating existing exchanges between HIEs in comments on the second draft of TEFCA.

In comments submitted to ONC, the Sequoia Project urged the federal agency to avoid unnecessarily disrupting or duplicating existing exchanges between health information exchanges (HIEs) and health information networks (HINs) in the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA).

The independent public-private collaborative largely supports TEFCA and ONC’s efforts to promote greater data liquidity. However, the Sequoia Project warned aspects of the framework may cause significant administrative burden for HIE leaders.
