Late on March 25, 2020, the U.S. Senate—by a vote of 96 to 0—passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), a $2.2 trillion package to address the coronavirus crisis. The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to pass the bill tomorrow, and the administration has said that President Trump will sign the legislation. This is the third wave of legislation to address coronavirus and follows enactment of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act and an $8.3 billion emergency funding bill. Some have hinted that a fourth package of legislative changes is expected, although timing is uncertain.
