– Congress should adopt the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT’s (ONC’s) guidelines for adopting application programming interfaces (APIs) into health data and HER use, says a group of leading industry stakeholders led by Pew Charitable Trusts.

These guidelines, published this past February, come as a part of the 2016 21st Century Cures Act (Cures) and outline how the medical industry should begin embracing APIs as a means of extracting health data from an EHR.
