Congress and the White House continue to consider the Build Back Better Act, a legislative package being pursued by Democrats through the budget reconciliation process. Various committees in the U.S. House of Representatives considered and marked up legislation in September 2021. But negotiations have been ongoing in light of concerns about the overall cost and scope of the legislation.

After much negotiation, on October 28, 2021, the White House issued a highly anticipated framework and then the House Rules Committee released revised legislative text and held a hearing on the new draft.
