Employers are looking for providers to use PROMs to both assess and address disparities.

When employers encourage the use of particular provider organizations — whether through direct contracting, preferred network designations, or consumer navigation tools — they look for rigorous outcomes measures. In light of increasing interest in addressing health equity, these purchasers expect to see evidence of provider efforts to reduce variations in outcomes associated with factors such as race, ethnicity, language, culture, and community structure.
