Thousands of people could be living with “Long Covid,” the long-lasting impact of a Covid-19 infection that might be affecting people in four different ways and leading to significant psychological and social impacts on people living with it, a report by the U.K.’s National Institute for Health Research says.
Key Facts
The review found people to be suffering from a wide-range of symptoms, including those affecting mental health and fatigue, the brain, breathing, the cardiovascular system, the skin and the liver.
The researchers say there may be four different syndromes that could be responsible for the symptoms: post-intensive-care syndrome, post-viral fatigue syndrome, long-term Covid symptoms and damage to the lungs and heart.
