Two health information exchanges (HIE) are changing their rules to enhance the exchange of patient health data during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 outbreak has presented a multitude of challenges for both patients and providers, and with interoperability being inconsistent, health information exchanges (HIEs) are aiming to alleviate that burden.

HEALTHeLINK, an HIE that spans over Western New York and is a part of Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY), and HealtHIE, Nevada’s state-wide HIE, are both changing their requirements amidst the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
