HHS has awarded a total of $100,000 to six winners of its synthetic health data challenge on Sept. 21.

Synthetic heath data is artificial data created to mimic real-world data, according to a Sept. 21 news release shared with Becker’s. It’s used by researchers and health IT developers to test algorithms and other ideas when real clinical data isn’t available.

Below are the winners of the challenge and their monetary awards.
