Healthgrades recognized 864 hospitals with its 2023 Patient Safety Excellence Award and 2023 Outstanding Patient Experience Award.
Among hospitals, 445 across 44 states received the patient safety award and 419 across 47 states received the patient experience award. Only 83 hospitals received both awards.
Hospitals receiving the Patient Safety Excellence Award were in the top 10 percent of hospitals based on 14 patient safety indicators from inpatient MedPAR data. An analysis revealed patients treated at a recipient hospital were less likely to experience the following events:
