On May 6, 2021, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued its third enrollment snapshot for the COVID-19 special enrollment period (SEP) in the 36 states that use HealthCare.gov. This SEP began on February 15 and was authorized following an executive order from President Biden. The SEP is broad, meaning any qualifying consumer can enroll in coverage through HealthCare.gov or change their current plan by updating an existing application.
As of April 30, nearly 940,000 people had enrolled in marketplace coverage during the SEP. This includes more than 206,000 consumers who newly selected a plan in February 2021, an additional 322,000 consumers who newly selected a plan in March 2021, and 469,000 consumers who newly selected a plan...
