Health care costs are 3 to 5 times greater for people with rare diseases compared with those without, according to a new study.
A retrospective study of medical and insurance records indicates health care costs for people with a rare disease have been underestimated and are 3 to 5 times greater than the costs for people without a rare disease, according to a study pubished Thursday in the Orphanet Journal of Rare Diseases.
