According to the most recent estimates from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of the Actuary, health care spending is projected to reach almost 20 percent of gross domestic product by 2027. Although national health expenditures have steadily increased for decades, there is mounting public consensus that US health spending growth has become unsustainable and unaffordable.
