Sam Hussain cold called hundreds of care homes in August of 2017 trying to persuade one to try out his new business, but to no avail.

“Nobody wanted to take a risk on a baby business,” he recalls. “But then we got a break.”

A care home on the south coast of England finally said they would give Hussain’s fledgling business, an app for care homes to digitalize information, a go.

“After a week of running it in parallel with their existing paper records, they ditched paper altogether,” says Hussain.

Hussain put all his savings into getting a prototype developed, and then raised an angel investment round.
