Interoperable EHRs. The year opened with Epic leading the KLAS ratings again and celebrating a strong 2020 with a significant US market share jump, and it closes with Oracle buying Cerner. This, combined with Microsoft buying Nuance and a big uptick in the valuation of Athenahealth and other EHR solutions by private equity, points to the increasing value of access to patient data and the tools to learn from it. Big tech is now interested. We also think FHIR will be an important part of the solution.
