Digital fax machines could eliminate paper fax machines, while also improving interoperability and data sharing at health systems.

Even with EHR adoption, traditional faxing in the medical field is still a common communication occurrence. However, digital faxing, which intends to support a fully digital documentation strategy, is becoming more prevalent in the medical community.

A recent KLAS report dove into this topic to learn what is possible with digital fax solutions.

The goal of digital faxing is to take discrete documents, images, and data, and integrate them directly into provider’s workflows. With the implementation of digital faxing, interoperability and data sharing challenges could potentially be eliminated.
