Best Buy on Tuesday reported a better-than-expected second-quarter profit as coronavirus led stay-at-home consumers to buy appliances, computers and fitness gear to better their remote working and learning experiences. But the pandemic may also be hastening the transition of the largest U.S. specialty electronics retailer to becoming a major healthcare-industry player.

Best Buy has named a 30-plus-year industry veteran Deborah DiSanzo as its new President of Best Buy Health, Best Buy CEO Corie Barry said on a conference call Tuesday, when the company reported second-quarter online sales more than tripled to $4.85 billion to represent more than half of its domestic business.

Barry described DiSanzo, who will start in September, as someone “at the intersection of healthcare and tech.”...
