A widely used effort to move Medicare away from fee-for-service medicine saved nearly $2.7 billion from 2013 through 2016, a new study indicates.

The analysis, released by the National Association of ACOs, comes as the Trump administration weighs whether to hold accountable care organizations (ACOs) to more downside financial risk, essentially penalizing them if they don’t reduce costs and improve care. The association said ACOs have saved Medicare $2.66 billion since 2013 , which they say is at least $1 billion more...
