American households continue to struggle with healthcare costs, and most are concerned about access to affordable insurance coverage, according to a new Bankrate survey.

The survey of 1,000 adults was conducted in July for Bankrate.com by GfK Custom Research North America.

Five findings:

1. When asked if they or a close family member in their household chose not to receive necessary medical care due to cost, 22 percent of respondents said, “yes,” and 77 percent said, “no.”

2. Of those who said they or a close family member in their household avoided medical care, approximately 17 percent were Medicare...
