The average annual salary for physician assistants in the U.S. is $125,270, according to the most recent Bureau of Labor Statistics occupational employment statistics survey.

By comparison, nurse practitioners make an average of $124,680, general medicine physicians make an average of $242,190 and nurses make an average of $77,600.

Physician assistants are paid the most in Washington, earning $145,290, followed closely by California and Alaska. Physician assistants in Arkansas made the least, earning an average of $68,270 per year.
