By comparison, physician assistants make an average of $125,270, general medicine physicians make an average of $242,190 and nurses make an average of $77,600.

Nurse practitioners are paid the most in California, earning $158,130 each year. They earn the least in Tennessee, earning an average of $99,330 per year.
